My Grandfather's memorial service was this past weekend in the midwest, where we celebrated his life of 93 years. Having served in the United States Navy, a 21-gun salute was rendered in his honor. It was a moving ceremony at a very old cemetery near Dewitt, Missouri. Surrounded by ancient tombstones, corn fields and towering red cedar trees filled with buzzing cicadas, I snapped many pictures of my surroundings and took in my roots.
