Another Eagle Day

I decided that Convict Grade road is one of my favorite stretches. Today I saw many eagles perching along the Yellowstone river watching for ducks. The clouds were different in every direction...

Old Leaves

A collection of willow leaves floating in a unique pattern.

The Draw

Something about the desolation in this draw in Yellowstone, even with the number of trees.

Buffalo in Snow

Taken in February last year in Yellowstone with my friend, Kristin, these buffalo waded through deep snow.

Pine Creek and Rough-Legged Hawks

In the last few years, I've noticed that Pine Creek road is a great place to find these hawks. Long fields surround both sides in a stretch and I almost always see one perched on powerlines. I think I need to get the powerline photos out of my system before I can go on posting other things...

Directions

One of my favorite things about living here in Montana is that I've finally found my bearings. I've always been terrible at directions growing up in the flat midwest. Surrounded by different mountain ranges has helped me to know where I'm going and where I've been. I always seem to capture the take off from powerlines of these birds of prey, I should have it mastered by now. The top photograph of red-tailed hawk was taken in September last year. The second, a rough-legged hawk (can you see the rodent?), bolts off into golden valley county on a recent epic drive with my friend, Cody.
