Wild Goose Island
There is a Montana legend about this island situated between two shores on St. Mary Lake in Glacier National Park about two tribes that lived on either side that avoided eachother. One day, a warrior saw a maiden from the other side. Both swam across and were instantly smitten, and they fell in love. Neither tribe was happy with the connection, but the Great Spirit was watching and transformed them into geese so they could fly away from their pursuers. When the warriors arrived on the island, what they saw were two geese walking on the island and took flight, never to return.
